prowling the net

It's done.

Everything backed up. Everything moved. Even the flist has been rearranged. LJ Sec is busy locking down all the old entries.

I don't think I'll be posting much any more on this LJ. I'm leaving it up because it has history, but I won't be reading the flist. I moved a lot of you onto my personal LJ though, and I'll still be using that.

So, what are you here for?

Standalone fics - they're listed on FanWorksFinder.

Slytherin Rising stuff - slytherinrising or SR on IJ.

Fan postings, meta and recs - all on IJ these days, and GJ. BUT those of you who aren't leaving can still read it! Simply add mskatonic_ij to your flists, and you can still read the stuff. I have the feed on my personal LJ, and will use that to read and reply to comments left on that feed. You can also use OpenID login to leave comments direct on IJ.

Continuing personal contact with me - there is my personal LJ, ms_katonic. It is Friends Only, but I have added a lot of you to it already.

I am also found at GJ, JF, DJ and IJ under the name ms_katonic. I will be reading the flists there when I get time. They're shorter anyway.

Goodbye people. It's been emotional. But I can't risk LJ shutting my entire LJ participation down because of my fandom stuff. This seems the safest option.

Yours fannishly,

Ms. Katonic
COCK!

Fear the Gay Chicken

Link from zoepaleologa. I'm linking because I'm ten. :)

HAS SOUND, IS NOT WORKSAFE.

Fear the Gay Chicken! Exactly what it says in the URL.

Incidentally, those of you who are thinking of leaving LJ and have paid time remaining? You might want to take a look at this. Especially if you're living in the States.

Also, we have clarification on whether it's OK to link to offsite content on LJ that is against the new policies. Typically, said clarification isn't actually in the TOS or news or lj_biz where we might actually all be able to see it. Careful what you link to on LJ, folks. Especially if you do it publicly.

However, over on IJ, we finally have a victory for fandom - the site owner clarifies that content will only be removed for actual lawbreaking and DMCA/C&D notices (the relevant exchange is down the page). Good to hear. Also, they've upped the friends limit for free users to 250 (1500 for permanent users, 1000 for paid. Perm accounts are an outrageous £20).

And finally, an article on bisexuality and fanfiction. Thoughts?

Boldthrough links

So LJ finally posted a statement on its policies on what content is acceptable. Comments have maxed out already, which is pretty good going and probably a new record.

They claim written text has never been a problem yet - this is not making me feel any better, tbh. Not given some of the stuff in my collection...

For those of you who have been hiding and missed all the fun, the backstory is here.

Also, the more activist among you may find these open letters of interest - the second one is by the pornish_pixies mod, who'd quite like some clarification, rather understandably as it's her comm that's been under fire. Don't think these'll get answered, but who knows, eh.

To add insult to injury, brad, LJ's founder, has left the company. It's not exactly connected with the present drama, but it's not a good sign, either.

And finally, Python and database programmers! Want to become instant Big Name Fans? Have time to spare? atrata needs volunteers to help build a new home for fandom. If you're interested, drop her an email.

So yeah, that's the round-up for those who weren't up to speed. Now you are!
prowling the net

All my slash is belong to FanWorksFinder!

Memories - backed up in del.icio.us.
Fic - all safe in places other than LJ.
Links to fic - all posted to FanWorksFinder. All I need to do now is update my FanHistory.com pages, and post the FWF link to my profiles.

That link is here, btw:

Ms. K's fic, all in one place

So you too, in case you've ever been curious as to what exactly my contribution to fandom consists of exactly, can go and read all my slashpr0n. The pairings are quite varied too. There's Snape/Lockhart fluff, Draco/Ron humour, Snape/Harry epic fic, a Snarry drabble, Harry/Fenrir horror filth, tentacular Draco/Luna/Devil's Snare goodness, pervy Bella/Dementors and Bella/Draco fic, Draco angsty genfic, the lost classic Rules of Being a Successful Slytherin (got circulated quite a bit as an email forward, that one) and, erm, the infamous Mythos slash.

Um. In my defence, much of that was written for and at the behest of other people. I'm not that depraved. Honest!

Well, alright, maybe I am a little bit...

Anyhow, that's the fic collection. Feedback welcome, for those who've never read any of it before.
